Introduction to:                                                    Growing Your Own Medicinal Mushrooms at Home

During this 1.5hr workshop, Tara from Fungi Akuafo will provide a general background on mushroom cultivation and the specific ways to create the climatic conditions to grow medicinal mushrooms from a grow kit at home while Malcolm from Light Cellar will discuss the benefits of medicinal mushrooms and their uses once your mushrooms are fully grown.
Your registration fee includes:
  • 1.5 hr live lecture
  • A mushroom kit (reishi, lion’s mane or oyster) that you can pick up at the Light Cellar on Friday/Saturday November 20/21st. Registration closes November 6th 2020

This is a 2 hour introductory talk on cultivating mushrooms in your home.  Learn to grow mushrooms to add to your dinners and share with friends.  We will discuss how to grow oyster mushrooms on a variey of substrates (straw, wood shavings, sawdust); ways to prepare the substrates; different containers you can use; and low-tech ways to create a suitable environment to grow mushrooms in your home. 
Your registration fee includes:
  • Link to Introductory video on mushroom life and cultivation cycle. You will receive the link the week of the workshop – please watch before the attending the workshop.
  • 2 hour lecture

Registration closes: November 10th 2020.                    Fee: $40 for CHS members and $50 for non-members
