Wow, what a roller coaster of a couple of weeks!
Thank you to everyone who has continued to order spawn from us. We appreciate it. Without constant orders, it is very difficult to keep our business running… Here are a few photos of our lab work!
We are moving our in-person workshops to interactive zoom workshops. Thank you to those participants who have decided to stick with us! This summer we will be working hard to add video and online training options.
Spawn is by it’s very nature clean. All our substrates are sterilized and inoculated in front of a flow hood. Meghan is the only one that handles the spawn and shipping.
Small businesses and small farms are particularly vulnerable right now. We ask everyone that they try to order food from small farms in their areas as much as possible. If you need help identifying farms in Alberta, please ask and we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction! It may be a bit more effort than going to a grocery store, but it could save the farms in your area.
I’ve been wondering how you both were doing the last few weeks, Meghan. A very difficult time for us all, in different ways. Nice of you to mention to everyone to buy from small farms at the moment. In a few days’ time, I will be driving south to the Saskatoon Farm again, to pick-up another pre-ordered box of food items. I often call in at the Farm, in ‘normal’ times. You order online, pay over the phone, drive up to the main door and stay in your car while staff load the box into your car. All safely done, with no contact with anyone. They will also deliver within a certain distance. I think I’m just on the limit, but my car needs to be run, anyway, and I need to actually leave the house – by the time I go, it will have been getting on for three weeks since I last opened my front door! Hope this is all over in a few months’ time!! Stay strong, safe and well!
