We built a King Stropharia bed under a rhubarb patch in our garden on the weekend. We wanted to put it in a place that is checked often.
Here’s how we did the layers (from bottom to top)
- Wet cardboard
- Mix of compost/sawdust (we didn’t have any fresh wood chips)
- Added inoculated wood chips (we did these earlier in the year with sawdust spawn and hardwood wood chips)
- Mix of compost/sawdust
- Straw
Very inspiring! 🙂 We’re interested to try this in our raised bed gardens in Brentwood this spring. We have backyard bees that may benefit from the King Stropharia spores. Is it possible to purchase King Stropharia spores from you? It would be our first time trying to grow mushrooms.
Yes, we do sell King Stropharia sawdust spawn that you can use in your garden. Let us know some more details and we can help you out!
I am planning to build a low berm to trap rainwater in my yard. The berm will be made of poplar wood and maple and willow. If possible, I would like to inoculate the wood with King Stropharia mycelium. Could you supply me with the spores that would work in that environment. I also read about creating a bed under rhubarb plants. I like that idea as well.
